Chopin Year

2010 is named Year of Fryderyk Chopin to celebrate his 200 birthday anniversary. Across Poland there are numerous concerts, lectures, exhibitions and other events dedicated to this famous French-Polish composer. Warsaw City Hall took the patronage over some of events and concerts.

Fryderyk, although born in Żelazowa Wola, spent his first 20 years in Warsaw. City Hall wanting to celebrate this great pianist and composer introduced multimedia benches alongside the Royal Route (Krakowskie Przedmieście to the Old Town) placed opposite buildings important in Chopin's life. These little monuments describe the Chopin's Warsaw and play his music. Every bench is marked with a strip code through which one can download pictures, music files and audio guide on a mobile device free of charge.
