Night of the Museums

The first Museums’ Night (Noc Muzeow) event was held in 1997 in Berlin, but it wasn’t until 2001 when the event grew to the truly European happening, when most of European galleries and museums opened their doors for visitors for nearly a whole night. Warsaw and other Polish cities joined in 2003.

This year on the 15th of May Hanna Gronkiewicz Waltz – Mayor of Warsaw is inviting all visitors to over 158 museums and galleries open between 7p.m. to 3a.m. Focus in 2010 is put on the celebration of Frederic Chopin’s as this year is his 200. birthday anniversary.

Warsaw city has prepared many attractions for all art and history lovers. You can use the special public transportation – a historical buses from the 50’s called “ogorki” meaning cucumbers which resembles their rounded shape (check-out the line A on the transportation map) – file attached below
